Election Day is World Overshoot Day

World Overshoot Day is the day when when human demand on nature surpasses what nature can renewably supply in a year. It has been falling progressively earlier for the last thirty years.

In 2010, by the Global Footprint Network's calculations, that day happens to fall on August 21.

This is the same day as the Australian federal election.

"Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists in choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable."
- John Kenneth Galbraith

"Cynicism is obedience"
"Optimism is a political act"
- Alex Steffen

Pessimism is the lot of the flock. The cynical sheepdogs will round you up in due course.

"Pig's arse they will!"
